WE OFFER THREE METHODS OF WOODEN CABINET RESTORATION
FIRST METHOD IS HAND-APPLIED:
This method requires a hand-Applied, Multi-Layered Lacquer Finish. It is a labor-intensive, high-end process involving multiple hand-applied layers of lacquer, carefully sanded between coats to achieve a glass-like finish. Materials include:
- High-quality lacquer (e.g., Sherwin-Williams’ ProClassic or Benjamin Moore’s Aura)
- Fine-grade sandpaper (e.g., 220, 320, 400 grit)
- Premium brushes or spray equipment.
The process begins first with surface preparation (clean, sand. fill in imperfections). Second a primer is applied if necessary. Third is the initial hand application of lacquer. Fourth step is hand sanding the surface with 220 grit sandpaper. Then we apply subsequent lacquer layers (2-3), sanding between each (320, 400 grit). Finally we polish the surface to a mirror shine.
SECOND IS SPRAY-APPLIED, CATALYZED CONVERSION VARNISH (CCV)
A high-end, industrial-grade finish applied using specialized spray equipment, offering exceptional durability and chemical resistance. Materials include:
- Catalyzed Conversion Varnish (CCV) coating (e.g., Axalta’s Imron or PPG’s Deltron)
- Spray equipment (e.g., HVLP or air-assisted airless)
- Protective gear (mask, gloves, safety glasses)
This process begins first with surface preparation (clean, sand. fill in imperfections). Second a primer is applied if necessary. Third step is to spray-apply CCV coating in a controlled environment. Then we allow the coat to cure (follow manufacturer’s instructions). Finally we do an inspection any touch ups (if necessary).
THIRD IS A HAND-PAINTED, CHALK-BASED FINISH WITH A WAX TOPCOAT
A unique, high-end approach combining a hand-painted, chalk-based finish with a protective wax topcoat, ideal for achieving a soft, matte look. Materials include:
- Chalk-based paint (e.g., Annie Sloan Chalk Paint or Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint)
- High-quality wax (e.g., clear or colored furniture wax)
- Fine-grade sandpaper (e.g., 220, 320 grit)
- Premium brushes
This process begins first with surface preparation (clean, sand. fill in imperfections). Second we hand-apply chalk-based paint. Third step is a good sanding with 220 grit sandpaper. Then the application of a wax topcoat. Finally we buff the surface to the desired sheen.
